Soil Testing at LSU
Testing of garden and landscape bed soil is very important. Clegg’s Nursery is proud to partner with the LSU AgCenter to provide soil test self-mailer boxes
Most ornamental plants we grow in Louisiana prefer a soil pH of 5.5-6.5. Most vegetables prefer a soil pH of 6.0-6.5. We do have some acid-loving plants that prefer soil pH of 5.0-5-5. Add lime to raise soil pH. Add sulfur to lower soil pH. You must, however, know your current pH prior to application.
